Tru2Way is born

The CES 2008 conference this week saw the birth of Tru2Way, a major re-brand of the OpenCable / OCAP. OpenCable, which was originally announced in September 1997, has no doubt been many years in the pipeline. That said, it's probably time for a re-brand and reintroduction to the potential of this Java-based development platform.

How will the Tru2way branding be reflected on OEDN? This kind of begs the question about the name of the site. Have you discussed with the Advisory Council? Wouldn't it be more like TEDN.net moving forward?

Geoff-

That's a good question, and we have heard from CableLabs that tru2way will be the customer-facing marketing name for OpenCable, but the internal name will remain OCAP/Open Cable (they have years of documentation around these names, and it would be just about impossible to global search & replace all of the references to Open Cable at CableLabs). That said, it is possible that we might want to tie up that domain name, just in case.
