POSITION SUMMARY:
• Design, develop, test, and debug real-time systems and interactive TV application software for digital cable set-top boxes, servers, and tools using OCAP (tru2way)
• Analyze system and functional requirements and specifications for design and project planning.
• Works independently with little supervision.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: include the follow. Other duties may be assigned.
1) Design, develop, test and debug software for digital cable set-top boxes using modern programming languages.
2) Consults with principal staff to evaluate design decisions.
3) Develops software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
4) Understands robust software development processes and software configuration management policies.
5) Interface with third party software vendors and integrate with their products as required.

Necessary Qualifications/Experience: 

Must be proficient in the Java programming language (1.1 / J2ME). Must have a working knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, XML, and XSLT. Should have working knowledge of C and or C++ as well as familiarity with UPnP.

Must be able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have experience with network protocols and programming using TCP/UDP/IP and sockets. Must possess good understanding of object oriented design methodology (UML knowledge is highly desirable).

Must be willing to work in an entrepreneurial environment requiring broad experience, adaptability, quick learning and excellent problem solving skills.

A Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Mathematics is preferred. The successful candidate would have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures. Additionally, they would have the ability to write reports and procedure manuals, the ability to effectively communicate among team members, present information, and respond to questions within their area of expertise from group managers, clients and customers.

The successful applicant must have a high level of familiarity with software industry standard design patterns and their application.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to the Principal Engineer on their project within ATG.
